My pleasure, I am Holly

I am the mother donkey of Emilio. I was born in 2021, close to the AAK farm in the Shimba Hills region. My first owners were unable to provide me with the time and space I needed, so they brought me to Animal Aid Kenya, where I have been living on the farm alongside all my two- and four-legged companions. I truly feel at home and safe, and I fell in love with Malaika a few years back. In 2024, Malaika and I decided to start a donkey family because we are now convinced that we can provide a nurturing environment for our children to grow up. Since the arrival of Emilio in April 2025, we have embraced our life as a happy donkey family on the farm. Besides my routine hoof care, which comes with expenses, I also require special attention from the veterinarian, Dr. Peter, as I lost a lot of energy during my pregnancy and the birth of my son, Emilio.
By supporting me, I assure my sponsor that I will strive to be a wonderful donkey companion, care for my son, and be a good partner to my family and friends here on the farm. I will definitely share many pictures and updates about myself and my family with my sponsoring friend, keeping them informed about how my life evolves.

January 2026 - Update

Holly has been struck by a heartbreaking fate. Her son, Emilio, was taken away by the landlords of the farm. As a result, she was forced to leave the farm unwillingly, carrying the weight of this painful separation. We deeply miss Holly and Emilio every day and feel their absence profoundly in our hearts.

Despite this difficult situation, we remain steadfast in our trust that justice will prevail. We are fighting tirelessly through legal means to ensure the swift return of these two loving donkeys to their home, where they belong. Their gentle presence and affectionate nature have touched the lives of so many, making their loss keenly felt within our community.

We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the people who stand with us during this challenging time. Your support and encouragement give us hope and strength to continue this struggle. Together, we believe in a future where Holly and Emilio will be reunited with those who care for them deeply.
